Finds of Bulgarian archaeologists have made news in recent years, becoming known throughout the whole world. It is not accidental that two exhibitions, connected with the treasures of the Thracians, have shaken Western Europe. The exhibition, staged in October 2006 – January 2007 in Paris attracted an audience of more than 100 000 people and was covered by more than 200 publications in the French press. While the exhibition of Thracian treasures, opened in Basel, Switzerland, was compared by specialists to the collection of the famous Tutankhamun Tomb that had been shown there.
In this way the wonderful archaeological monuments, recently uncovered, have gradually started to be generally known to the international community. For a few years now television companies like CNN, Euro News, RTL and ARD as well as newspapers like The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Independen and Figaro have regularly been covering the findings in Perperikon, Tatoul, in the Valley of the Thracian Kings and in Starossel. In 2006 the most prestigious media, popularizing the world cultural and historical heritage, came to Bulgaria. It is every state’s dream: to have its monuments shown by television companies like BBC and Discovery Channel, whose teams busily shot sequences in the Eastern Rhodope Mountains and in the Thracian Plain. An extensive article about the ancient Thracian heritage was included in the last issue for 2006 of National Geographic.
